About

Michael WaltonI am a Director of Facilities with extensive Facilities Management education and experience.  My career started with HVAC, appliance servicing, and other commercial trades.  I moved into Facilities Management 20+ years ago.  Facilities management is an ever changing field, which keeps me energized and engaged.  Training in safety, emergency management, and business continuity enhanced my career.

Fortunately, mentors took time to get to know me and learning my personality and natural strengths.  They used this knowledge to shape my career.  Love for the trades is a natural strength and safety is another strength. Safety training taught me how to protect people.  One mentor recognized how much I enjoyed Business Continuity and Emergency Management and offered training opportunities.  Training as an Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter added to my safety and emergency management knowledge.  As a volunteer with a local fire department and rescue squad I was involved with my community.

As Director of Facilities my responsibilities include managing all facilities, being safety committee chairman, managing emergency preparation teams, and developing business continuity plans.  Conducting facility assessments provides vital information for planning and budgeting.  My goal is to help other facility professionals and mentor people through their career.

I developed safety and emergency programs that have been adopted by insurance companies and other organizations.  Introduced ergonomics and established programs to improved working conditions and morale.  One facility I managed was used as a showcase for people looking to improve working conditions at their facility.

My career has been amazing and I look forward to the future.  Helping people, improving facilities, providing a safe work environment, and emergency planning.
