Prepare and Protect Your Loved Ones

Protecting your loved ones is a top priority!

What would happen to your family if your house was damaged by a fire or natural disaster.  A long term power outage could destroy your food and change your way of life.  If a relative is affected by a disaster, would you be able to assist them?

Severe weather can quickly destroy your home.  Damage extends beyond personal property, your health, sense of security, fear of the unknown, and insecurity can increase your stress. Lack of clean water, heat, cooling, and food can quickly lead to sickness and possibly death.

Fire will destroy family records, insurance documents, and disrupt your routine.  Fires start quickly and spread so fast people are not able to escape.  Smoke detectors, preparations and emergency escape plans can be the difference in your families safety.

Planning for the unknown is often difficult.  You do a lot of work planning and preparing for something that may not happen.  When it does happen all the work is worthwhile.

Learning about the risks common to your area of the country is not a waste of time.  Family time can include fire prevention education and evacuation planning.

Buying a preparedness kit will protect your family and maybe your neighbors.

Do not forget the pets. They are part of the family but emergencies confuse them. Comforting a pet is calming for you and them.  Like humans, pets feel stress and fear.

A disaster can leave conditions that are hazardous for your pets – broken glass, sharp metal, splinters, etc.

Do you have a plan for your pets?  Is pet food included in your emergency supplies?
